When Did I Grow Up? The good news? Fitness has no age boundries!

I was invited by my now 21 year old daughter to visit and celebrate her 21st birthday at college. I LOVE birthdays and couldn’t wait to be a part of such a momentous occassion. I ordered her favorite cake, bought presents and of course a sparkly crown and all the accessories, which she wore with pride. We  had a wonderful dinner then went out and met many of her friends for celebration and fun. The night was wonderful… although I did feel out of place for obvious reasons. Her friends made me feel incredibly welcome and  the night brought back wonderful memories of my own college experiences… but also made me realize  how different I am now. I am so proud of her… and found out that she is also proud of me. She has been sharing my P90X experience with all of her friends and some have been following my progress via Facebook. They were all so supportive and excited for me.

My daughter is now doing Turbo Fire and absolutely loves it! I have just started that program myself, so it gives us one more thing to share and talk about! I just love how fitness and being healthy has no age boundries!

And while we’re on this subject… one of the things I have realized while getting back into shape and eating healthy, is how much energy I have and how young I feel! Turns out we have this human growth hormone (aka HGH) that is naturally produced by our bodies, but slows down significantly as we reach our mid-thirties. (It it responsible for our growth spurts when we are children.)  The good new? This hormone  can by triggered by the HIIT programs we do in Turbo Fire (and Insanity and Asylum). This helps us burn fat even after we’ve finished working out! I don’t know about you… but I kinda like that idea! Chalene coins this the “afterburn effect”. So according to the research,  by going all out in these workouts you can increase your production  of this hormone by 530%, which then continues to circulate for TWO HOURS!!! How awesome is it that we can rejuvenate our own little fountain of youth! (and do it while we’re at REST)

I’ve also found that by adding Shakeology every day, my energy level has increase further! I feel healthier and lost more weight as well.
