How do I stay motivated in my workout?

14 July 2011 2 Comments

I recently had a co-worker mention that it is very hard for her to stick with her exercise program on the days that she works. We both work at a hospital and do shift work. I will admit that after a long 12 to 13 hour work day it is a little exhausting to think about coming home and facing a workout. It’s what she said next that brought things to light… straight back to reality, so to speak. ¬†She had a patient that she was caring for, with a heart condition, that said that no matter how tired she was… she headed to her TV and pushed play. She is committed to her P90X program and would not allow herself to miss a scheduled day. She has been able to change her life with less medications and more energy, but admits that sometimes the “damage” that has already been done will try to get the best of her. This patient said that she refuses to let her fatigue, or anything else that she may have going on, to get in the way of her quest for being the healthiest that she can be.

My friend has set new goals for herself based on her admiration for this patient. She no longer makes excuses… she comes home from work and heads straight to her workout. She will not allow herself to have dinner until afterwards. For me, I try to eat before I leave work. I get off around 8pm and have to drive for an hour… so… I do NOT want to eat at 10pm! Yes, it is sometimes hard… I’m tired… I may not always get the “best” workout… but I give it my best, and then try to do more on the days that I am off.

So many people have more health issues than us…. do not let age, fatigue, being out of shape, or overweight be an excuse for you. Make the change now… only you can do this for yourself. There are many programs out there that are perfect for you! Push yourself, don’t let your body take over your mind. If you can only walk 10 minutes today, do 12 tomorrow! Two pushups on your knees today? Four next time!

I was recently working out with my sisters while they were vacationing at my home. They did P90X and Turbo Fire with me… they wanted to give up… I just asked them for a little more… and guess what? They did it!!! Tell yourself what YOU want to do… set a goal and then GO for it!!!

I am renewed and inspired once again! Join me… work out with me… if you’re not sure what path you should take….. email me! I will help you to reach your goals. I can coach you for free! I can help you! I’ve already helped others, and my team is growing! I have a “secret” Facebook page specifically for my clients.. we all help and encourage each other. What a great example. It’s simply a mind set: I CAN do this instead of thinking about ways you can’t.
