A Salad is always good for you, right?

I was at work the other day and decided to hit the salad bar for lunch. I work at a hospital and have both healthy and unhealthy choices to choose from in the cafeteria. We have a subway, which I use ONLY as a backup… and a wonderful salad bar. There are also unhealthy choices that I try to avoid… hamburgers, fried chicken fingers and pizza. Now I usually pack my own lunch so that I know exactly what I’m putting in my mouth… but every now and then, I …

How to Stay Motivated and Positive on Your Fitness Journey

Most of the emails that I get from clients have to do with frustration over results and thoughts of giving up. Some don’t feel that they’re getting results fast enough, others find that committing to the time it takes on a daily basis can be overwhelming. There is also the daily temptations at work and social gatherings that can sabotage even the most committed fitness enthusiast.
So… how do we continue to stay motivated and positive as we strive to reach, or maintain our fitness and health goals?
First we have to …

So sorry for the delay in reporting my experience with day 3 of the Shakeology Cleanse! I actually slipped away for a much needed “get-away” with my husband. We’ve had a lot of company this summer and needed to get away from everything (including technology!) I’m behind now, but very relaxed and happy with my decision to take a break from my busy, hectic life to spend time with my amazing husband!
I am happy to report that all went well. It was actually easier than I thought it would …

Day 2, Shakeology Cleanse

So Far, So good!!!
It was a little tough last night since I’m on night shift right now. Less sleep tricks my body into thinking I’m hungry. Having a little trouble with the green tea for some reason. Love the fruit!
I’m using my favorite flavor… chocolate! It’s kind of a special treat to be drinking a chocolate shake 3 times a day!
I did get the headache last night on my way into work… but as soon as I ate my dinner of chicken and green salad, plus two big glasses of water… …

Shakeology Cleanse, Day One… Fresh start

So today I have decided that I am in need of a new start! I just finished with two weeks of vacation, and while I did workout and try to stick to my healthy diet, I admit that I was certainly not perfect! I currently feel bloated and I’m pretty certain that I gained some weight back (haven’t had the nerve to get on the scale). I typically can tell by the way my clothes fit, and mine are not as lose as they were two weeks ago.
I believe that …

Came across this article on the Beachbody website… felt it was very appropriate as I near the end of two weeks on vacation!

8 Ways to Avoid Summer Weight Gain
By G.D. Rossen

As the summer vacation season approaches and millions of people start planning trips, among the most popular ways the recreation-starved choose to spend their hard-earned vacation time and harder-earned cash is on cruise ships or at all-inclusive tropical resorts. The cruise industry alone saw more than 10 million passengers depart from U.S. ports last year, while tropical über-resorts with names …

One of the things that I love most about being involved with Beachbody, is the effort that they make, and stress, of helping others to reach their goals toward health and fitness. There are countless numbers of people that have lost weight, lowered their blood pressure and cholesterol, brought their diabetes under control, and gained the energy to be involved in the lives of those around them.
Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater. BMI is calculated from a person’s weight and height and provides …

Beachbody has a new Shakeology flavor being released this fall!
I love this product and can’t wait to try it! Having more flavor options just makes this product even better. Shakeology has become a part of my every day nutrition plan. It has helped me to lose weight, given me more energy and helped my digestive system. I no longer take expensive vitamins, because I am able to get everything I need in my daily shake.  I use it as a meal replacement for breakfast… it helps curb my appetite as …

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful celebration. We are so fortunate to live in a country with the freedoms that we enjoy. Take time to thanks those who have served in our military that have helped keep these freedoms alive for us.
I personally am working this weekend, so I won’t be able to post any new articles over the next few days. I work as a physician assistant in Trauma and surgery. I’m hoping for a “quiet” weekend and hope NOT to see anyone that has been …
