Follow Me on My P90X2 Journey

Follow me on my P90X2 journey
I am so excited! My much anticipated P90X2 arrived yesterday!!! I felt like a little kids on my birthday or on Christmas morning. I opened the box and looked through the books, watched the intro DVD and planned for my first day.
I must say that I’m a little intimidated… but I’ve always had a “can do” attitude and I know that I can do this. I remember when I started P90X… it was very difficult for me, but I kept pushing play every day, and …

Another reason to stay healthy

Staying Healthy
I didn’t really need another reason to stay healthy and take care of myself, but I got one any way! My second granddaughter joined us on Oct 27th… so precious and such a miracle. I spent one glorious week helping to care for her, my daughter and my 4 year old granddaughter. Things were a little crazy that week and I wasn’t as committed to my workouts, but once I got home I jumped back in, eager to set new goals and renew my commitment to stay healthy. I …

Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome ~ Avoid it or make the change to improve your health!

Metabolic Syndrome:¬†(also known as syndrome X or the dysmetabolic syndrome) – is a diagnosis that has been around since the 1980′s to describe a combination of health risks. It includes, but not limited to, obesity, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, high cholesterol and an increased risk for the formation of blood clots.
The definition and criteria actually depends on which source that you are looking at. The 2001 National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel (ATP III), uses any …

Insanity – Cardio Recovery Review
“Don’t get your hopes up – this isn’t the recovery you’re expecting. But it should help your body and muscles prepare for more INSANITY.” It last about 35 minutes.
This workout combines yoga, strength training and core work to get you ready for the rest of the program. It’s a nice break, but certainly will still get you sweating. The stretching is a welcome benefit to help those sore muscles!
I think it’s also a great marker to test your strength and flexibility. I’m presently in week 3 …

What is the best time to workout?

What is the best time to workout?
Are you trying to figure out when to fit in your workout into your busy day? This truly can be one of the biggest obstacles for people trying to start (and continue) a fitness plan. I often hear “I just don’t have time” and “I have too many other commitments”.
There is also information out there about the best time to get the most out of your workout.
I believe we need to take both of the above into consideration. I for one find that working …

Insanity, Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs
To coin a phrase from Shaun T: ¬†”That “sh**s bananas yo!”
Just as you’re getting used to the Circuit/interval training, the plyo, the resistance… the “little” breaks that you get in between the “long” intense workouts… Shaun T throws in Pure Cardio! It’s a very intense, nonstop aerobic workout that will take you to places that you have never been! Once again the workout lasts around 40 minutes (and you can obviously take breaks if you need to… you can also modify moves and reduce the …

A Reflection of Fitness Goals for 2011

A Reflection of fitness goals for 2011.
Did you make them? Was it a New Year’s Resolution? Did you make a promise to eat healthy? get fit? lose weight?
As we quickly approach the upcoming New Year 2012 (and I say quickly because I woke up to very crisp, cool temperatures and was wondering where summer went) I became reflective of this past year. I started out deciding to get fit and take better care of myself. I started P90X and got into the best shape of my life! I’ve strayed …

Insanity – Cardio Power and Resistance Review
This workout will work on your strength and make you lean by using MAX intensity intervals of strength, resistance, sports drills and plyometrics… all without weights. It lasts about 40 minutes. You will build lean muscle and upper-body definition with strength-training and power moves.
I have to say, this one kicked my butt… but in a good way. Definitely an all over workout. Your heart rate will stay up the entire time! If the rest time is not long enough, it is definitely important to …

Insanity Review – Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Insanity – Plyometric Cardio Circuit
As promised, I will be giving the low down on my experience with my 60 day Insanity Challenge! Not only will this keep me accountable, but it will also provide a little glimpse into the workout life of a 50 (almost 51) year old that refuses to give into the “gravity” changes that nature is trying to force upon me!
In a nut shell… Insanity is a program that forces you to dig deeper and go beyond your comfort zone. Shaun T challenges you, and encourages you …
